Left 4 Dead 2 Released

On November 16, 2009 Valve released the action packed sequel to Left 4 Dead 1 onto steam and shortly followed with the console versions on November 17.  Left 4 Dead 2 did amazing in retail prices scoring over 2 million in the first 2 weeks, and that is not even including Steam sales. Left4Dead 2 is looking to be another great game in the valve lineup!

Here is Valves description of the new title in case this is your first zombie apocalypse.

Set in the zombie apocalypse, Left 4 Dead™ 2 (L4D2) is the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Left 4 Dead, the #1 co-op game of 2008.

This co-operative action horror FPS takes you and your friends through the cities, swamps and cemeteries of the Deep South, from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns.
You’ll play as one of four new survivors armed with a wide and devastating array of classic and upgraded weapons. In addition to firearms, you’ll also get a chance to take out some aggression on infected with a variety of carnage-creating melee weapons, from chainsaws to axes and even the deadly frying pan.

You’ll be putting these weapons to the test against (or playing as in Versus) three horrific and formidable new Special Infected. You’ll also encounter five new “uncommon” common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen.

Helping to take L4D’s frantic, action-packed gameplay to the next level is AI Director 2.0. This improved Director has the ability to procedurally change the weather you’ll fight through and the pathways you’ll take, in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match your performance. L4D2 promises a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience every time the game is played, custom-fitted to your style of play.

Be sure to pick up a copy November 17th on Xbox® 360 or Steam®, and discover for yourself how much fun a zombie apocalypse can be:

Valve Justifies Left 4 Dead 2

Valve tries to justify Left 4 Dead 2

In a recent interview with SlashDot, Valve’s Project Lead on Left 4 Dead, Chet Faliszek, tried to defend Valve’s decision to go ahead with a sequel so quickly after the original game’s release.

“Trust us a little” has been the company line over the past few months as Left 4 Dead 2 has filtered out of Valve’s development news. Disgruntled Left 4 Dead fans are concerned that the release of the sequel will mean the end of updates for the original game.

And why shouldn’t they be? Valve originally promised continuing updates and new campaigns for Left 4 Dead. None of those promises were met in the last year despite their being a main selling point of what can only be called a rather unfinished title.

Now Left 4 Dead fans are being slapped with a new title accompanied by a new $50 price tag. How’s that for loyalty?

Left 4 Dead 2 Announced at E3!

posted by Meister on June 3rd, 2009

Valve announced this week at E3 that Left 4 Dead 2 will be released on November 17th, only one year from the release date of the original game. The game includes five new campaigns, all new characters, melee weapons, and some of the following changes:

Weapons:

The Uzi has become the PKG, a silenced version. There’s a new autoshotgun model, and new weapons are to be added.

Melee weapons including the Frying Pan, Chainsaw, Bat, and Fire Axe.

Incendiary ammunition ignites zombies on impact. (Other bonuses are also apparently on their way)

New special infected – the Charger – can plow into Survivors like a bull and stun them.

Daylight gameplay and weather changes. Apparently the weather can change and it may be daylight. If so, Witches wander during the day and can litreally walk right into you.

Of course we all can’t wait to hear more about this new game! Stay tuned!
